Exploring eStrata: Your Questions Answered for BC and Beyond

At eStrata, we pride ourselves on delivering a robust, user-friendly software solution for condo and strata management. While our roots are firmly planted in Alberta and British Columbia, our reach extends globally. We've been receiving a variety of inquiries from clients recently, particularly from British Columbia, and we’re excited to provide answers to some common questions that we hope will be useful for both our local and international clients.

How Many Clients in Western Canada Use eStrata?

We market eStrata internationally, but here at home, eStrata is being used by over 100 strata and condo communities across Canada. Roughly one-third of our clients are located in BC and Alberta. Whether you're in BC or elsewhere, eStrata’s capabilities are designed to meet diverse needs and regulatory environments.

Do you Offer Ongoing Maintenance and Support?

Managing a strata’s documentation can be a daunting task, but we have designed eStrata to be intuitive. While the strata council is generally responsible for uploading new documents, we're happy to help get you started. We offer comprehensive support to help you get accustomed to the platform, and once you're up and running, you should find the system intuitive and easy. You likely won't need too much ongoing support, but we're always just a phone call or email away.

There are no additional fees beyond the subscription cost, and we don’t impose cancellation fees, making our service low-risk and flexible.

Are There Any Document Upload Limits?

When it comes to document uploads, eStrata has no restrictions on the number of documents you upload and places very few restrictions on the type of documents you can upload (e.g. .doc, .jpg, or .pdf). The only limitation is on file size, but we provide ample space to accommodate even the largest files your strata might need to manage.

Do You Cater to an Elderly Demographic?

Many of our clients have older residents, and we understand the challenges this can present. Our system is designed with ease of use in mind, and we’ve successfully implemented it in communities with senior residents. It often helps to pair less tech-savvy individuals with a “buddy” within the building to assist them during the initial stages. Our goal is to ensure that if you can navigate the web, you can easily use eStrata.

What is Your Data Backup and Disaster Recovery Plan?

Data security and recovery are top priorities for us. Our daily backups are stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3, which is known for its robust, multi-layered protection. In the event of a data center disaster, we can be operational in a different data center within 24 hours. We also regularly test our data recovery procedures, typically every two years during system upgrades.

Are you Compliant with PIPA and the BC Strata Property Act?

Although we have built and marketed eStrata internationally, our home base is in western Canada, and as fellow Canadians, your privacy is important to us. We make efforts to comply with provincial privacy legislation (such as Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)). We collect only the personal information necessary for our services and do not share it beyond what is required for operational purposes.

For BC’s Strata Property Act, our system’s features help maintain transparency and accessibility, aligning with regulatory requirements.

Do we Need to Worry About our Data?

Amazon S3, where we store our backups, provides exceptional durability and redundancy. Data is stored across multiple devices and Availability Zones within an AWS Region, minimizing the risk of data loss. Regular checks and redundancy mechanisms ensure that your data remains intact and accessible even in the face of hardware failures.

In conclusion, whether you're in Alberta, British Columbia or anywhere around the world, eStrata is here to support your strata management needs with reliability, ease of use, and robust support. If you have more questions or need specific information, feel free to reach out. Our team is committed to helping you make the most of our software, no matter where you are.
